C providing security with assistance of the 137th Infantry Regt. Company B had 5 men wounded and 2 men from Med. Det. Wounded.

Was assigned the mission of ferrying Infantry across Moselle River vicinity of Crevechamps.

Co B
Mission was to ferry Infantry across the Moselle River in the vicinity of Crevechamps, also cleared all approaches in the vicinity of both bridgeheads of mines.

Co. C
Constructed 130' foot bridge 2 miles South of Crevechamps at Neuviller-Sur-Moselle. On 12 September, 44 we completed 160' Treadway bridge, this was the first bridge across the Moselle River.

Rcn for and acquisition of bridge materials between St. Nicholas and Rosieres. 1st Platoon repaired road near Fleville. 2nd squad, 3rd platoon alerted to clear mines at Varageville.

Construction of Class 70 Bailey bridge across canal in Nancy. Construction of Class 40 treadway bridge across Meurthe River at Nancy.


17 September 1944

Construction of class 40 treadway bridge at Nancy. Maintenance of 4 bridges at Nancy. On the night of 17 Sept. Co. C slept in beds in a German hospital which use to be a French professional school before the war in Nancy.


18 September 1944

Removal of mines from streets at Art-Sur-Muerthe, maintenance of treadway bridge. Left 1 mile SW of Rosieres at 1800 hours by motor march and arrived ½ mile North of Sornville at 2100 hours. Operated with battalion moving to new destination.

Co. B
Repair and maintenance of canal crossing, removal of mines from streets at Art-Sur-Muerthe till relieved. Departed area 1 mile SW of Rosieres at 1800 hours by motor convoy and arrived at area 1 mile North of Sorneville at 2100 hours. Usual camp duties performed.

Co. C
Departed from Nancy by motor convoy at 1100 hours arrived 3/4 mile NnW of Rosieres at 1601 hours. Departed from Rosieres at 1830 and arrived ½ mile South of Mazerulles at 2200. 2nd platoon maintaining three bailey bridges (300 ft. long) also clearing mines in vicinity of Nancy.

To perform Engineer tasks in support of South column, area of 4th Armored Division. Departed area 1 mile North of Sorneville and arrived at area ½ mile North of Fresnes-Saulnois at 1715 hours.

Maintenance of 4 bridges in the vicinity of Nancy. 2nd platoon removed obstacles from MSR, Route N-74.
