Comments: Searching for information on the Rhine and insights to help my father and gather information on post traumatic stress that might help school bus drivers and children. My father has just started sharing information regarding his military experience. Talking seems to help him. He reports his unit was "wiped out". He is 81 years old and served as a private with the US Army's 7th army. He was a part of the Seventieth (Trailblazers) division an old newspaper clipping he sent home reported the division was "made up largely of Minnesotans, and the 101st Cavalry group". Other known details: My father left the USA on 1/5/45 by boat. He arrived in France on 01/15/45. He left France on July 3, 1945. I'm very proud of my father and everyone who fought to help protect our freedom. Thank you!!

Comments: Just 2 months ago I was invited to speak at a convention of the 82 Engineer Combat Bn, l9th Corps, 9th Army asset during WWII about my remembrances of WWII as a 9 year old child living in the rest center town of Heerlen Holland. I heard a story from one of the bridge builders which I find quite hilarious. During the building of a very important bridge across the Albert Canal near Maastricht which was being observed by many Corps and Army officials the young 2nd Lt in charge wanted to be sure that nothing would go wrong so whenever a move was made he would lay his level to insure that everything was still the way it should be, much to the aggravation of the GI's. Then all of a sudden a section of the bridge fell into the canal and would't you know some smartaleck GI hollored out, much to the embarrassment of the young Lt "Hey Lt bring the level" Needless to say it brought grins to some faces. By the way the 82nd has its' own website. Thanks for your participation in my liberation. Peter Bardoul Atlanta, GA

I haven't been able to find any information. I do know that he was in North Africa, was there with the English Army before Patton got there...He was in Sicily, Italy, Germany, France etc...Supplying the front and Patton with fuel and ammunition...building bridges and roads... I've heard the stories my whole life, and am doing research and taping the stories my Dad tells so it won't be forgotten. My Dad is my hero, and I'd like to link him up with his past, those few years that so changed and molded his life. Bless everyone who has served our country and in doing so, blessed us... If anyone has any information that would be helpful, please email me. Thanks so much

I'm interested in any stories about fighting which took place in or around Trebur, Nauheim, Gross-Gerau, and M÷rfelden. I have a German acquaintance who is an amateur historian and has many first-hand reports of local engagements from German civilians and Wehrmacht veterans. He also knows the location of a Sherman Tank which was buried in a large crater. We are considering excavating the thing and so I'd be interested if anyone knows what unit might have lost a Sherman on a farm somewhere South of the Schwarzbach between Trebur and Geinsheim. They also crossed the Moselle in September with the 90th Infantry Division, but I'm not sure on which bridge. I'm sure it's in one of the pictures on your site. Their veterans often speak of how the Moselle was flooded and what a miracle it was that a bridge was built.

Comments: A huge thank you to all the veterans who fought in WWII!! I have the utmost respect for all of you and the sacrifices you made for our country. My grandfather and great-uncle were with the British Army and often spoke of the bravery of the "Yanks". I am proud to be descended from both British and Americans who fought and died bravely to make keep our world free from tyranny. Growing up as a military brat outside of Bitburg AFB (now closed) I often played in old bunkers left by the allied forces. What an amazing irony - a place that was a fun playfort for me as a child, was at one time a frontline in a war. You veterans are amazing and I certainly don't think most people my age (30) do not realize what you accomplished in WWII. Well, I do and I thank you for it everyday and God Bless each and every one of you!

Comments: I was looking through your site and was quite impressed.
It is so refreshing to see patriotism! I truly worry about
the kids of today and there lack of respect for the flag
and what it stands for. I'm sure it's because they have
never been faced with war close to home and therefor it
doesn't seem relevant to them. It's a shame that when
things are good we take life so for granted and those that
have come before us.
Thanks for your heart in the matter.
