Comments: I did a search for John Matyi and I was surprised to find my name listerd here as PFC John Matyi under the "Purple Heart" heading. Why, because I have been awarded the Purple Heart, but in Vietnam in 1966, and of course not in the 150th. My fathere did serve in WWII, but he was in the Navy. BYW, I was a Spec. 4.

Comments: I am creating a myspace page. I am trying to keep a military theme. I googled the word Essayons and eventually came up with this site. I was awarded the 12B mos in 1977. And though I have earned 2 additional I still consider myself a Combat Engineer above all else. Essayons!

Comments: I saw my Dad'd name-Sgt Stanley J. Wichrowski-as receiving an oak cluster to the purple heart. He died in 1986 from cancer. He rarely talked about his experiences during WW2. I donated some items he had to the Wisconsin veterans museum. I am a 2 tour combat disabled vet from vietnam.

Comments: My grand father Arlie Allen Lacy was in the combat engineers in WW II. I think it was the 143th but not real sure. I know General Bradley was his comander. He was from Alabama. I know he was involved in the Battle of the Bulge to some extent. I remember him telling storys of how cold he was and how much he missed my grandma. I also remember how much he hated the French, probably as much as the Germans. All I do know is that I am proud for what he done for our country and I am proud of what all veterans did for our Country. I would just love to know more about his campaigns and life in the army. Where do I go for help?

Comments: The Hagaman Library in East Haven, CT. recently began having meetings for WWII veterans, and anyone else interested in hearing about and learning about the experiences of those men and women. The person running the meetings mentioned to me yesterday that she has been trying to find some information on the 31st Combat Engineers, of which her father was a member, with no success. This is my attempt, but I don't seem to be able to locate anything on the unit.
